The first time I felt old at 42, my perfect eyesight started to fail.
That same year, my hair started to thin. Mostly from stress. That’s another story.
I really hoped to skip that weird middle age where men gain weight, wear sensible shoes, and start shopping at Costco for all their clothing.
For me, wearing glasses was the first descent into the Kirkland abyss.
Don’t get me wrong, up until now I was cool with having a bit of George Clooney grey in my beard. But, losing the ability to read in dim lighting meant I was less Clooney and more my fat uncle George.
I decided to fight back.
I picked the coolest Ray Ban progressives I could find
I recommitted to my fitness. Heavy lifts, and jiu jitsu became the recipe.
I started eating healthier, and cut down my alcohol intake.
I researched skin care routines and hair peptides.
I committed to a regular sleep schedule and tried to reduce stress in my life.
I started reading more books and challenging myself to learn new things.
I took up hobbies that fostered creativity and brain health.
I developed a 10 year plan to live to 90.
I slowly started to incorporate some new routines and reconnected with some old ones.
Most importantly, I stopped making excuses and started taking action.
ACTION STEPS:
Pick one area of your health that you want to improve and commit to 10 unbroken days of action.
Don’t know where to start? Walk 30 min every day first thing in the morning or after dinner.
